Michigan is also known as the "Great Lakes States" due to the fact than it borders four of the five great lakes including Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Erie. Michigan is also known as the Wolverine state because in years gone by people believed that people from Michigan were bloodthirsty creatures.
